Lake Bled is the breathtaking lake in the Julian Alps of the Upper Carniolan region of north-western Slovenia. Lake Bled is a tourist destination. Lake surrounds with Bled Island. The island has several buildings, the main one is the church which is built at the end of 17th century. Traditionally it is considered as the good luck for the groom to carry his bride up the steps before ringing the bell inside the church.
Lake Bled is a glacial lake in the extreme north-western region of Slovenia. It is a summer health and holidays resort. Its mild subalpine climate offers a long time in summers for bathing. It has a historical attraction too. On a small island, there is a church too where Slavic Pagan shrine stood from the 11th century. Lake is 2,120 meters long, 1,380 meters wide with the depth of 29.5 it has a small island too. It is situated in breathtaking view of mountains and forests. Above the lake, Medieval Bled Castle is situated and Zaka Valley lies in the west of the lake.
Bled castle:
Castle bled is built above the city of Bled in Slovenia overlooking Lake Bled. It is the oldest castle and currently the most visited place by tourists. Lake Bled and Bled castle compliment each other’s beauty and the upper view of this whole scene is breathtaking. It is a heart of Lake Bled. The oldest part of the castle is the Romanesque tower. In the middle ages, more towers were built and the interior was improved. Bled castle offers the finest view of Bled Lake. In summer months castle atmosphere is enlivened by the visit of a count and an archery tournament. Bled castle is now used as an exhibition area. Display rooms present an ancient history of Bled. During summer castle hosts many cultural events.
History:
There was a basin located where the present lake is, which was later carved by a glacier. That glacier had a hurdle in front of it which was a giant rock. With the passage of time ice started melting and that basin filled with water. This creates breathtaking Lake Bled. Lake Bled’s depth is ideal for diving explorations.
German king ceded the ownership of Lake In1004 to Albuin. Later that king Henry signed an agreement. He added more area in the donation that added the area of land of the size of thirty king’s farms. These donations made a role in turning points of Bled for over 800 years the breathtaking beauty remained under the sovereignty of Prince Bishops and Brixen.
In 1803 Brixen rule came to an end and Bled then went in hands of Austrian sovereignty but in 1838 they returned Bled to bishops of Brixen as a private estate. Soon that breathtaking territory under the rule of Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
Climate:
June is the hottest month in Lake Bled with an average temperature of 10o c and the coolest month is February with -6o C. Rain usually comes in the month of August with 155.5mm rain on average.
Most crowded months are June and July usually summers. Tourists also get attracted in Christmas and New Year celebrations. So most ideal months to visit Lake Bled if you want to dodge crowds are April/may and September/October.
Way to Lake Bled:
Getting there by car is easy. One can go there through highway or on other hands you can also get there to witness breathtaking beauty by traveling on the country road. You can also take a train to Ljubljana bus station is 4.5km away from Lake Bled then you will have to catch a bus or taxi from the train station to the lake. Getting to Lake Bled via bus is the best way from the bus station in Ljubljana, the bus has the travel time of about 1 hour and 10 to 20 minutes. The bus station is closer to Bled Castle. Ticket from Ljubljana to Lake Bled is about 7 euro discounts are also available for children and return tickets.

Lake Bled is rich in delicious food in all over its surroundings. Castle restaurant is on breathtaking location with a terrace and view straight from a postcard.
